10 Reasons to Visit Six Flags Great Adventure’s Holiday in the Park

Six Flags Great Adventure has its first Holiday In The Park festival in 2015, running on weekends and special days from November 21 until January 3. It’s a brand new event. with more than a million glittering lights, dazzling holiday entertainment, delicious seasonal treats, Santa’s village and many popular rides, which magically transform the summer thrill park into a winter wonderland. It is included with all Season Passes.

If you’re still on the fence about going, here are Top 10 reasons to go to Holiday in the Park this winter, based on my visit during the Thanksgiving weekend.

1. The park’s new Christmas theme

You’ll see Six Flags Great Adventure as never before, for this first-ever winter festival. The whole park changed to a Christmas theme, with thousands of lights, seasonal music, winter-specific food offerings, Santa and other kids activities.

2. The spectacular light show

Every half hour, an awesome music & lights show is projected on the big 50-foot tree in the middle of Main Street (behind the fountain). You can listen to Christmas carols while the tree comes to life with the projected show.

3. Rollercoasters in the dark

You might’ve visited Great Adventure after dark, so you know rollercoaster riding can be pretty awesome after sunset. This time you can do it while seeing millions of Christmas lights all around you. Coasters that are open include Nitro, Barman The Ride, Superman and Green Lantern.

4. Polar point

As you turn right, you’ll find yourself immersed in glittering silver/blue lights. Ice-blue trees twinkle with the illusion of falling snow up above, while winter characters will greet the kids. The magical corridor of lighted trees leads to Santa’s house.

5. Music & carolers

As part of the holiday theme I mentioned earlier, the sounds of Christmas can be heard everywhere, from the park’s PA system to the many groups of carolers.

6. Safari Kids rides

Besides seeing the lights and meeting some of their favorite characters, the little ones can enjoy almost all the rides in the Safari Kids zone. And they can do it in Christmas spirit, with the poinsettia-red Skull Mountain in the background, caroling around them, and strings of lights decorating the rides. This is the only kids area available, as Bugs Bunny’s National Park is closed.

7. The Carousel and Gingerbread Man

If you head left after the entrance, you’ll go past the red and white, candy caned themed trees, and head towards the giant Gingerbread Man towering over the Carousel. Ride the carousel like never before, in an explosion of thousands of sparkling lights.

8. Santa’s home

What’s a Christmas Village without Mr. Claus’ house? This home at the end of Polar Point provides warmth and allows kids to take pictures with Santa. Across the alley at the North Pole Village, the little ones can write letters to Santa, meet some Elves and build stuffed animals.

9. Poinsettia Skull Mountain

The Skull Mountain roller coaster dominates the East side of Great Adventure, having been transformed into a mountain of dazzling red lights with a crimson beauty, You can still ride the dark coaster, and the lines are not very long!

10. Renew your passes at the best prices over year.

During your visit to Holiday in the Park, you can renew 2 Season Passes for only $69 each (that’s the price of a regular single day ticket!), and get a gold membership as well. That covers parking for the whole season so you don’t need to pay $25 every time you go.
