This Columbus Day Weekend, Long Branch’s Pier Village hosts its first major outdoor festival, the Pier Fest. It will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, between 1pm-5pm. It will feature sidewalk sales, crafters, vendors, kids activities and, most importantly, live music! Sunday, WRat Radio 95.9 will present a rock concert, while Saturday will belong to talented local performers. You can find them in different locations around Pier Village, making sure that wherever you are at this festival, you’ll be able to enjoy live music. So here is a brief look at the Pier Fest artists.
Taylor Tote comes from Tinton Falls and she’s a little girl with a big voice. She will perform with her lead guitarist Tom Briant, as she does at so many events around the Jersey Shore. Taylor does some covers too but she’s well known for her original music, which was recently released on a CD (you can read our review of her debut EP and interview with her). Taylor Tote has been a big part of the Jersey Shore music scene for the last several years. Her previous band, Ardvark Smile, received Asbury Music Award nominations and won the Rock to the Top competition in 2013. You can listen to her acoustic performance at the Pier Fest on Saturday between 1-3pm.
Justin and Alina are old friends of ours, and have been performing for years at Jersey Shore venues and events. The dynamic brother & sister duo is also from Monmouth County and they’ll play all day Saturday at the Pier Fest. While both of them sing vocals, Justin plays the guitar and Alina is on the drums. They have an entertaining pop/rock sound, combining smooth and captivating harmonies, acoustic and anthemic electric guitar licks, and catchy-synthesized ear candy.
Joe Miller, a singer / songwriter from Asbury Park, is already a veteran of the Jersey Shore music stage. We had the pleasure of working with him at many events, and were always captivated by his solo performances. Joe’s commitment to music have earned him nominations and awards in multiple categories at highly respected awards ceremonies throughout New Jersey, including, locally at the Asbury Music Awards. Don’t miss Joe and his guitar on Saturday afternoon at the Pier Fest.
Autumn City is an all female alternative indie rock trio, led by Aster Pheonyx on the guitar and vocals, and also featuring Audra Thomas on bass and Amanda Kelly on percussion. The girls from North Jersey have been playing together for just about a year, and they already have an Asbury Music Awards nomination for best rock band and a debit album – “Tuesday’s Song”. If you like authentic, organic live rock, you can listen to them in Pier Village on October 10, near the Festival Plaza.
Elya Vasiliev is another Monmouth County artist, songwriter, singer and actor. Despite his young age, he will delight you with the sound of old-school crooners like Frank Sinatra or Harry Connick Jr, but also with more contemporary musicians like Chris Martin from Coldplay or John Mayer. Don’t miss Elya’s entertaining performance on Saturday!
Finally, non-stop entertainment at the festival will be provided by Instinctive DJs from Point Pleasant. We’ve been working with them for many years and they’re the best mobile DJ company we know around the Jersey Shore. Whether it’s a big festival, a corporate event, or a special celebration like a wedding or Sweet Sixteen, they know how to select the right entertainment that would keep everyone on their feet for hours. Instinctive DJ’s will be located in the center of the vendors & crafters area at Festival Plaza.
