Middletown Day returns to Croydon Hall on Saturday, September 28th from noon to 6:00 p.m. The fall festival boasts activities for all ages including bouncy houses, a business and community showcase, craft fair, car show, children’s activities, a food court, live local music, a petting zoo and pony rides, hayrides, youth sports contests, and a tag sale.
New activities this year include laser tag, a home run derby, and a charity flag football game against former and active NFL players. Winners of the youth baseball, football and soccer contests will be presented with awards at the October 21st Township Committee meeting.
The Business and Community Showcase features local businesses, community associations and school groups that support Middletown. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the many businesses spread across the township’s 42 square miles and meet the volunteers that work so hard to make Middletown a great place to call home.
Middletown Day offers opportunities for family learning. Learn about nature and colonial times at the Poricy Park Conservancy exhibit; storm water pollution at the Clean Communities display; emergency preparedness at the Emergency Management tent; and fire safety in the Fire Department’s smoke house.
Middletown Day 2013 marks the official start of Middletown 350, a year-long celebration of the township’s founding in 1664. Stop by the information tent to get your Middletown 350 Passport & Guide to Middletown.
Festival goes will also find magic shows, local art displays presented by the Middletown Arts Center and equipment displays provided by the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services. The children are always welcome to explore the trucks and try out the drivers’ seats.
The charity flag football game will be the finale to Middletown Day. Middletown Day 2013 and Dreams for Kids will present The NFL Pros vs The Shore Things. Come watch the Township Committee, Board of Education members and Township employees attempt to beat former and active NFL players. Two quarters will also be played by the Middletown Eagles and River Plaza Chargers. Tickets are $10 for the game or $30 for a VIP admission. VIP admission includes a pre-game reception at 6:00 p.m. with active and former NFL players and a game ticket. Due to a limited number of seats, it is recommended tickets be purchased in advance. To purchase tickets online, visit register.communitypass.net/Middletown. Tickets can be accessed under the Middletown Day section of the site. Proceeds go to Dreams for Kids and the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund.
Volunteers are needed to make Middletown Day a success. Individuals as well as civic, fraternal, community, and school organizations are welcome and encouraged to participate. Certificates documenting community service hours are issued. Please send an email to mtownvolunteer@middletownnj.org if you or your group can lend a hand.
Middletown Day, which is sponsored by local business, community groups and individuals, will be held rain or shine. Free shopping bags will be given to the first 1,000 attendees.
Visitors should park in at Bayview Elementary School or Kunkel Park and ride the free shuttle to and from the Middletown Day grounds. Continuous round trip shuttle services will be provided every 5 to 10 minutes. Parking very limited at Croydon Hall.
