Asbury Park’s Cross & Orange Opens Its Doors Thursday, February 12th

One of Asbury Park’s most anticipated new restaurants, Cross & Orange, will officially open on Thursday, February 12, 2015. Restaurateurs Bob and Chris Fahey, who also own and operate Edgar’s Pub in Manasquan and are affiliated with the Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, have spent the past several months carefully planning the design and décor of their newest venue, and developing a menu unlike any other in Monmouth County with executive chef Sam Byrne.

One of Asbury Park’s most anticipated new restaurants, Cross & Orange, will officially open its doors to the public on Thursday, February 12, 2015.  Restaurateurs Bob and Chris Fahey, who also own and operate Edgar’s Pub in Manasquan and are affiliated with the Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, have spent the past several months carefully planning the design and décor of their newest venue, and developing a menu unlike any other in Monmouth County with executive chef Sam Byrne.  Locals and epicureans alike are sure to relish this inviting new addition to downtown Asbury Park.

Chef Sam Byrne Cross & Orange Asbury ParkChef Sam Byrne is a Michelin-quality chef who has garnered his experience cooking in some of the most lauded kitchens throughout Europe. In his role as Executive Chef at Cross & Orange, Chef Sam aims to bring the Michelin standard to contemporary American cuisine for all to enjoy.

At Cross & Orange, chef Sam’s menu celebrates old standards, while embracing and creating new ones. Chef Sam will use his timeless approach to food and drink to offer a scratch menu comprised of appetizers such as Confit Pork Wellington wrapped in a bacon pastry with mustard, arugula and fennel and Charred Octopus with pea and lava bean relish, orange, mint, chorizo, potato and tarragon. Entree selections include Beef Cheek with Sous Vide Fillet along with parsley crust, and bone marrow butter; Roasted Halibut accompanied by seared foie gras, parsley puree, oxtail and madeira ragu; and Chestnut Ravioli are some dishes guests can expect on the scratch-made menu.

Cross & Orange Opening in Asbury Park NJ CookmanThe restaurant’s decadent desserts will include a Créme Brûlée with ginger bread donut, a Winter Truffle, and Beetroot with pistachio, goat cheese, blueberry and meringue. In addition, Cross & Orange will offer a special Chef’s Menu where guests can work directly with chef Sam to create a menu of their choosing for six or more guests.

“Seeing our vision come to fruition at Cross & Orange has been an incredible process,” said Chris Fahey, co-owner of Cross & Orange.  “Everything from the plating and décor to our front- and back-of-the-house staff has been carefully considered.  We can’t wait to share this dining experience with patrons from Asbury Park and across the state.”  

“Our team set out to create a place for anyone to come in and enjoy a casual atmosphere with top-quality food and cocktails,” noted Bob Fahey.  “Drawing from chef Sam’s simple belief that the best food comes from the best ingredients, Cross & Orange will celebrate time-honored culinary standards, while creating and embracing an experience all our own.” 

Seated in the city’s historic Park Overlook building, the 4,000-square-foot restaurant will open to the public on Thursday, February 12 at 4:00 p.m. for dinner service. In honor of it’s opening weekend, Cross & Orange will be offering a special Valentines Day menu on Saturday, February 14th and are currently accepting reservations.

The restaurant is located at 508 Cookman Ave. in Asbury Park, NJ 07712 and will accommodate 110 diners, in both the main dining room (86 persons) and bar tables (24 persons); an additional 25 persons can enjoy hand-made libations at the bar.
