Kazia’s Grab ‘n Go recently brought a new concept to Monmouth County dining – a very convenient option for people on the run: just pick up your food, which is prepared and chilled, and take it home to heat it up and have it ready to eat.
Kazia’s is located in the Hazlet Airport Plaza and welcomes its clients with a variety of freshly-made Chinese or other Asian fusion specialties, which are already packaged so you don’t have to wait like in most other take-outs. Their original concept is to cook the food so the flavor peaks at the time of reheating (normally, food loses a lot of flavor when it’s reheated). Kazia’s also serves sushi (there’s no sushi bar, it’s delivered fresh daily, and after 5pm it’s buy 1 – get a 2nd for 50% off).
Since the meals are cooked fresh, packaged and chilled, there’s no fixed menu. The offerings change through the day, sometimes very fast during the peak hours. I was able to get the Mandarin Chicken, but also the very tasty Sticky Buffalo Wings which were a real treat! Specials are frequently posted on Kazia’s Facebook page.
Besides the large dining area, Kazia’s has a small Asian grocery store in the back, with food items you wouldn’t normally find in regular stores (including Mochi Ice Cream and Ramune Marble drinks), and there’s also the unique Bubble Tea bar. The bar has hundreds of tea flavor combinations, and I’m looking forward to trying that next time. And if you bring your kids, they’ll have fun playing with Yummy the giant panda!
The store opened in late 2014 and is the creation of Cliff Moore, a 40 year food service veteran. Previously he owned several IHOP’s in Monmouth County, was President of the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce, and operates several other businesses including the Belly Flop Cafe at the Hazlet Swim Club.
If you’re looking to rent a house at the shore, check out ShoreVacations.com, Jersey Shore’s biggest vacation rentals resource. It lists hundreds of rental homes and condos from Sandy Hook all the way down to Cape May (including Belmar, Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights, Ocean City, Long Beach Island, Atlantic City or the Wildwoods). It’s a one-stop website for planning your Jersey Shore vacation, featuring beach information, weather updates and more! And of course, it has a full list of all the Jersey Shore events this year
