Jersey Shore Events on the Weekend of May 18-20

Events at the Jersey Shore on the May 18-20 weekend include Bamboozle (headlined by Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters and Incubus), the Seaside Music Fest, the Wildwood Centennial Kickoff, Maroon 5 or Beach Boys in Atlantic City, and much more in Red Bank, Ocean City, Toms River, Sea Bright, Tuckerton and LBI

Just a week before Memorial Day, things are heating up at the Jersey Shore! We have so many exciting events this weekend (of May 18-20). Wherever you happen to be, there will be something for you.

Jersey Shore Events: Bamboozzle in Asbury Park featuring Bon Jovi

Probably the most talked-about event is the Bamboozle Music Festival on the beach in Asbury Park. There’s an impressive lineup with dozens of bands. Kicks off on Friday with acts like Skrillex, Incubus or Volbeat. The on Saturday it’s the Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, All American Rejects and many more. Finally Sunday is headlined by Bon Jovi, but also includes The Gaslight Anthem, Buckcherry, Boys Like Girls, etc.

There’s also music a few miles to the South at the Seaside Heights Music Fest, a free admission three-day music festival that takes place Thursday-Saturday throughout bars, restaurants, and on the beach at Seaside Heights. The music festival is now in its 5th year and hosts performances by favorite local bands, out-of-towners, and touring acts for an eclectic weekend of live music.

Jersey Shore Events: Seaside Music Fest

If you’d rather enjoy some delicious food instead of great music, there’s plenty to do too this weekend. On Saturday, Toms River hosts the NJ State Chili & Salsa Cook 0ff, New Jersey’s original and hottest cook-off! It is an International Chili Society-sanctioned State competition running 11am-5pm on Washington St. There will also be live entertainment plus vendors & crafters.

On Sunday, 12-4pm, it’s the 3rd Annual Taste of Manasquan. For $20 in advance (or $25 the day of the event), you can visit more than 20 eateries & sample a variety of Manasquan’s finest cuisines.

Summer activities are also starting at the Tuckerton Seaport. This Sunday (11am-5pm) they have the 6th Annual Bluegrass & Barbecue Festival. Kick-off the summer with the down home sounds of bluegrass and the sweet smell of barbecue, crafters, vendors, food, refreshments, family activities, demonstrations, decoy carvers, boat building and boat rides.

Nearby on Long Beach Island, Beach Haven hosts the Pour Into Summer Wine Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy the first pour of summer with 10 NJ Wineries for wine tasting, bottle and case sales, live music and local picnic specialties. Takes place on the Taylor Avenue Ballfield behind Bay Village.

Also on LBI on Saturday, you can Soar into Summer in Ship Bottom! It’s a free event featuring beach demos, surf boards, kites and paddle-boarding as well as street activities classic cars, face-painting, pirate ship and costumed characters, at the 17th St Beach.

Jersey Shore Events: Wildwood Centennial Celebration KickoffFurther down South, Saturday it’s the Wildwood Centennial Celebration Kick-off. The opening ceremony will take place at Noon at the Wildwoods Sign, located at Ocean & Rio Grande Avenues. The ceremony will be followed by a day of family activities and games on the beach from 1-6pm. A bonfire and music will take place from 7-10pm.and will conclude with a fireworks display at 10pm.

Also Saturday, in North Wildwood it’s the Captain Kidd Pirate’s Day. A pirate costume parade begins on 26th & Boardwalk at 11am. Treasure hunt to follow at 19th & Beach for kids 12 & under. Prizes include $1,000 savings bond, bikes and more.

Jersey Shore Events: Sea Bright Firemen's FairAnd don’t forget, Thursday through Sunday Sea Bright has it’s annual Firemen’s Fair. The Peninsula parking lot will come alive the weekend before Memorial Day with the sound of laughter; tantalizing smell of burgers, hot dogs, and sausage and peppers on the grill. The fair will be filled with carnival rides, games of chance, food, beer, wine, live music, 50/50 raffle drawings, and much more. Schedule is: Thu 5-11pm, Fri/Sat 5pm-midnight, Sun 2-9pm.

Finally, for the hardcore athletes, there are two exciting triathlons this Sunday at the shore!

  • Ocean City Triathlon/Duathlon. 1/4 mile Swim, 2M run/16M Bike/2M run, plus a kids course. Swim start 6am-8am. Run/Bike/Run starts 9am
  • Red Bank Triathlon at 7am at Marine Park. Sprint distance: 1/3 Mile Swim, 15 Mile Bike, 3.1 Mile Run. Olympic distance: 1.5K Swim – 40K Bike – 10K Run. Duathlon also available
